Ram Charan has delivered one of the biggest openings of his career with Peddi, as the sports drama crossed ₹112.49 crore in worldwide gross collections on its first day, according to early trade estimates. The film, which marks Charan’s return to the big screen four years after the global success of RRR, has emerged as one of the strongest Telugu film openers of the year.
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana and co-starring Janhvi Kapoor, Peddi earned an estimated ₹51 crore net across India on its first full day of release. Including paid premiere shows that generated ₹18.50 crore, the film’s India net collection reached ₹69.50 crore, while the India gross stood at ₹82.49 crore. Overseas markets contributed another ₹30 crore, taking the worldwide tally to ₹112.49 crore.
The film was screened in 12,412 shows nationwide and recorded strong audience turnout, particularly in Telugu-speaking regions. Trade trackers reported steady occupancy through the day, reflecting sustained interest beyond the initial rush.
The opening also places Peddi among the select Telugu films to have crossed the ₹100-crore mark globally on day one. While it fell short of the historic ₹223-crore worldwide opening registered by RRR, it has become Ram Charan’s second-biggest global opener to date.
Backed by strong advance bookings exceeding ₹11 crore before release, Peddi benefited from extensive pre-release buzz, Charan’s star power and positive audience curiosity surrounding the rural sports drama. Industry observers will now watch closely to see whether the film can maintain its momentum over the weekend and move towards the ₹600-crore worldwide benchmark being discussed by trade analysts.
