The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squads for the upcoming one‑off Test and three‑match ODI series against Afghanistan, which will be held in India from June 6 to June 20, 2026. The teams have been picked by the senior selection committee chaired by Ajit Agarkar, as part of India’s preparations for the multiformat home series against the visiting Afghan side.
The lone Test will be played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium in New Chandigarh from June 6 to June 10. For this match, Shubman Gill has been named captain of the India Test squad, with KL Rahul appointed as vice‑captain. The squad includes Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, Rishabh Pant, Devdutt Padikkal, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Manav Suthar and Dhruv Jurel.
The three‑match ODI series will begin with the first game on June 14 in Dharamshala, followed by the second ODI on June 17 in Lucknow, and the third and final ODI on June 20 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. All ODIs are scheduled to start at 1:30 PM IST. The India ODI squad features Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav, among others.
The selection committee has also taken a workload‑management call on Jasprit Bumrah, who will be rested from both the Test and ODI squads for this series. The BCCI clarified that participation of senior players like Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya will depend on their fitness reports before the fixtures begin. The series is seen as a key opportunity to assess emerging talent and fine‑tune combinations ahead of future international assignments.
