The Indian Overseas Congress (IOCUSA) has warmly applauded the election of V. D. Satheesan as the next Chief Minister of Kerala and congratulated the Congress High Command for what it described as a prudent and farsighted decision that reflects the aspirations of the people of Kerala.

In a statement issued on behalf of IOCUSA, George Abraham said that Mr. Satheesan had emerged as the natural and most widely accepted choice for the leadership role following the United Democratic Front’s electoral victory.

“Mr. Satheesan has long been viewed as the natural choice for the position, and this decision truly reflects the sentiment expressed not only by the people across Kerala, but also by the vast Malayali diaspora around the world,” Mr. Abraham stated. “His leadership throughout the campaign, his strong commitment to democratic values, and his ability to connect with ordinary people earned him widespread respect and credibility.”

Mr. Abraham further described V. D. Satheesan as a determined and courageous leader who has consistently demonstrated political integrity, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to public service and secular democratic values. “Mr. Satheesan is a fighter with a deep sense of responsibility toward the people of Kerala. He has always stood firmly for secularism, inclusiveness, and the protection of democratic institutions, values that are deeply cherished by the people of Kerala,” he said. “We are confident that he will do his utmost to serve the state with dedication, transparency, compassion, and a strong commitment to social harmony and justice.”

The IOCUSA also expressed confidence that the incoming Chief Minister would work toward strengthening unity within the Congress party and the broader United Democratic Front while focusing on governance and development. “Kerala today faces several serious challenges, particularly a difficult financial situation and growing concerns regarding unemployment, economic growth, and public welfare. We believe Mr. Satheesan possesses both the vision and the administrative capability to address these issues effectively and restore public confidence,” Mr. Abraham added.

IOCUSA extended its best wishes to the incoming Chief Minister and expressed optimism that the new government would usher in a period of accountable governance, inclusive development, and renewed democratic vitality in Kerala.
