Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s Delhi concert has not been cancelled. The Delhi Police has granted permission for Diljit’s concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 30.
The decision comes after multiple meetings between Delhi Police officials and the organisers, who presented detailed security plans to address the concerns raised. Following these discussions, permission for Diljit Dosanjh’s concert was given.
Earlier, Delhi Police has denied permission for Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s scheduled concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 30, citing specific threat-related inputs, heightened security requirements during the festive season and other law-and-order concerns. The decision has cast uncertainty over the Delhi leg of his Aura India Tour, with the singer’s team and organisers yet to announce whether the event will be rescheduled or cancelled.
According to reports, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South District) communicated the decision to ticketing platform BookMyShow after examining the organisers’ application, submitted on October 14. The police did not publicly disclose further details about the nature of the threat-related inputs.
The concert was scheduled to open the India leg of Dosanjh’s tour and was expected to draw a large gathering of fans. The denial of permission comes amid additional security and law-and-order responsibilities for the police during the festive season.
The Delhi show had earlier been scheduled for November 1 but was moved to October 30 following an appeal to avoid holding the concert on the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh violence. Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney had urged the organisers to reconsider the original date, citing the sentiments of families affected by the violence.
The Aura India Tour is scheduled to travel to several cities, including Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Chandigarh, in November and December. The status of the remaining performances had not been reported to have changed following the Delhi decision.
Dosanjh, who has performed at major international venues, including Wembley Stadium in London, has built a substantial following in India and overseas. His previous Dil-Luminati Tour in 2024 drew large audiences across the country.
