Bollywood actor Salman Khan has ruled out the possibility of a biopic on his life, saying he intends to keep his personal experiences private. Speaking on the ninth season of filmmaker Karan Johar’s talk show Koffee With Karan, the actor said that a film chronicling his life would never be made, firmly dismissing the prospect of his personal journey being adapted for the big screen.
The subject came up during a rapid-fire round when actor Karisma Kapoor, who joined Khan on the show, asked him to choose a director for a hypothetical biographical film. Khan named four filmmakers, suggesting that each could portray a different aspect of his life. However, he made it clear that the discussion was purely hypothetical.
Khan said David Dhawan would be suited to directing a comedy based on his life, while Sanjay Leela Bhansali would be his choice for a traditional tragic love story. He named Sooraj Barjatya for a series of romantic narratives and Kabir Khan for an action-oriented love story inspired by events in his life.
Despite offering these choices, Khan reiterated that he would not allow a biopic to be made, emphasising his preference for keeping his life story to himself.
The actor’s remarks reflect a position he has maintained on documenting his personal history. In 2017, while attending the launch of tennis player Sania Mirza’s autobiography, Ace Against Odds, Khan had said he had no plans to write an autobiography. He indicated that revisiting certain experiences could reopen old wounds, reinforcing his reluctance to make private aspects of his life public.
Khan, one of Hindi cinema’s most prominent stars, has spent decades in the film industry, building a substantial following through films spanning romance, comedy and action. His latest comments, however, suggest that while his professional journey remains visible to audiences, he intends to retain control over how much of his personal story is shared.
