India’s T20I captain Shreyas Iyer has climbed three places to a career-best fourth position in the latest ICC men’s T20 International batting rankings, strengthening India’s presence among the world’s leading batters. Iyer’s rise follows his impressive performances in the ongoing five-match home series against the West Indies, including his maiden T20I century.
Iyer has accumulated 798 rating points, moving ahead of England captain Harry Brook, who occupies fifth place with 793 points. India’s Ishan Kishan continues to lead the rankings with 904 points, while Abhishek Sharma holds second place with 891 points. Pakistan captain Sahibzada Farhan sits third with 883 points.
The rankings highlight India’s strong representation in the shortest format, with three Indian batters occupying positions among the top four. Iyer’s latest achievement comes after a remarkable start to the West Indies series, in which he emerged as India’s leading run-scorer after the first three matches.
The right-handed batter began the series with an unbeaten 102 off 43 balls in Lucknow, registering his maiden T20I century. He followed it with further contributions to finish the first three innings with 143 runs at a strike rate of 226.98 and an average of 71.50.
Other notable movements in the latest rankings include Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis climbing three places to 23rd and West Indies batter Sherfane Rutherford rising 13 places to joint 24th. India’s Sanju Samson also gained four places to reach joint 27th.
Iyer’s rise adds to India’s growing presence in the T20I batting rankings as the team continues its preparations through the ongoing international series.
