Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has signed Letters of Intent (LOIs) with more than 50 dealer partners to establish its electric two-wheeler network across 34 cities in 15 states and Union territories in India, marking a significant step towards its entry into the country’s electric motorcycle market.
The agreements, signed on October 8 at the company’s manufacturing complex in Hai Phong, Vietnam, will support the establishment of dedicated showrooms for its electric two-wheeler range. The move marks VinFast’s first dedicated distribution network for electric two-wheelers in India as it expands beyond its electric car business.
The proposed network will cover Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan and Punjab in the north; Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh in central India; Maharashtra and Gujarat in the west; Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh in the south; and West Bengal and Odisha in the east.
The company is also developing charging infrastructure and strengthening after-sales services alongside its dealership expansion. Anurag Saxena, CEO of VinFast India E-Scooters, said the partnerships marked the beginning of the company’s efforts to bring its electric two-wheelers to Indian consumers, with support services being developed to improve the ownership experience.
VinFast entered the Indian electric vehicle market in 2025, with operations spanning the distribution, manufacturing and assembly of electric cars. Its planned two-wheeler expansion represents another step in its broader India strategy.
India’s large two-wheeler market presents an opportunity for electric vehicle manufacturers. According to VinFast, the country recorded 21.41 million two-wheeler registrations in the 2025-26 financial year, with electric vehicles accounting for 6.54% of the total.
However, the company has yet to announce the final India-specific model lineup, prices or a confirmed launch date for its electric two-wheelers. Its planned dealership network is expected to provide the retail foundation for its upcoming market entry as competition in India’s 2W electric mobility segment intensifies.
