Actor Rakul Preet Singh has denied reports linking her to recent Income Tax Department searches in Mumbai, saying the search action was not related to her and rejecting allegations of illegal foreign remittances or benami property holdings.

In a statement shared on social media on Monday, Singh said she was “heartbroken” by reports that, according to her, had circulated without adequate verification. She asserted that she has complied with her tax obligations and has been paying her due taxes since the age of 20.

The actor also denied involvement in any illegal foreign remittances, either personally or on behalf of a production house. She further rejected claims that she held benami properties in India or abroad and said she had never been gifted property or accepted expensive gifts as a matter of principle.

Singh criticised what she described as sensationalised reporting by some online and mainstream media outlets. She urged publications that had carried what she termed false, malicious or speculative reports to retract them and clarify the facts, arguing that commercial pressures should not come at the expense of accuracy, reputation and livelihood.

The clarification follows reports that the Mumbai Income Tax Department conducted searches at 12 locations on September 28 as part of an investigation into suspected financial irregularities.

The department has not publicly disclosed the findings of the searches or confirmed that any tax violation has been established against Singh. Her statement specifically maintains that the search was not connected to her.

On the work front, Singh is set to appear as Surpanakha in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming Ramayana: Rise of a Legend.
