Arijit Raychowdhury, Steve W. Chaddick School Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Georgia Tech, has been named a recipient of the Semiconductor Research Corporation’s (SRC) Aristotle Award, recognizing his sustained contribution to student education and professional development.
Established in 1995, the Aristotle Award honors faculty members whose dedication to teaching and mentorship has produced a lasting influence on students and, in turn, the broader semiconductor industry. Raychowdhury is only the second Georgia Tech ECE faculty member to receive the distinction. Professor Emeritus Jim Meindl previously earned the award in 2004.
Raychowdhury credited his students for the recognition, highlighting their curiosity and determination in tackling challenging research problems. He said that seeing students develop into independent engineers and researchers has been among the most fulfilling aspects of his career.
A member of the Georgia Tech ECE faculty since 2013, Raychowdhury became the school’s chair in 2021. In that role, he oversees one of the largest and highly regarded electrical and computer engineering programs in the United States, with a focus spanning education, research and workforce development.
Among his initiatives is the ECE Curriculum Partnership Initiative, which strengthens collaboration between academia and industry. The program incorporates industry expertise into courses through joint curriculum development, industry participation in teaching and hands-on, project-based learning.
Raychowdhury’s research and academic record includes more than 27 U.S. and international patents and over 250 publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. He also serves as a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society and directs the DoD-sponsored SCALE workforce development program focused on system-on-chip design.
His students and collaborators have received 18 best-paper awards. Raychowdhury has also been elected a Fellow of IEEE and the National Academy of Innovators and received the SRC Technical Excellence Award in 2021.
