Prime Minister Narendra Modi received birthday greetings from political leaders across India and several international leaders, with messages highlighting his public service, leadership and India’s diplomatic relationships. PM Modi turned 76 on September 17.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were among the foreign leaders who conveyed their wishes. Putin praised PM Modi’s contribution to strengthening the “special and privileged” strategic partnership between India and Russia, while Meloni emphasised the growing friendship between Italy and India. Netanyahu also lauded PM Modi’s leadership and the partnership between the two countries.
At home, President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union ministers and chief ministers extended greetings. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was also among those who sent birthday wishes to PM Modi, reflecting the range of political figures acknowledging the occasion.
Several messages referred to PM Modi’s more than 25 years in public life and his role in governance, development and welfare initiatives. BJP president J. P. Nadda highlighted the Prime Minister’s “Nation First” approach, while Union ministers cited schemes such as Swachh Bharat, Ujjwala, Jan Dhan and Ayushman Bharat.
The birthday also coincided with programmes marking PM Modi’s public life and service-oriented initiatives. In Gujarat, events were organised in Vadnagar, his birthplace, while the BJP announced a month-long “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan” from September 17 to October 17.
The greetings came amid continued attention to India’s international partnerships and PM Modi’s role in shaping the country’s diplomatic engagement.
