Qualcomm has launched an affordable all-in-one payment device in India that combines a point-of-sale (POS) terminal, dynamic QR payments and a payment soundbox in a single unit, in a move aimed at helping small retailers adopt multiple digital payment options.
The device, launched in partnership with Brandworks on September 9, is designed to address a common challenge faced by neighbourhood stores: the need to use separate devices for card payments, QR-based transactions and payment confirmations. Its pricing is expected to be closer to that of a conventional soundbox than a traditional POS machine, potentially making it more accessible to small merchants.
The device supports card and QR-based payments while providing audio confirmation of successful transactions through its integrated soundbox. It also includes GPS capabilities and AI-powered voice support, adding features beyond basic payment acceptance.
Qualcomm’s move comes as India’s digital payments ecosystem continues to expand rapidly, particularly among small businesses. UPI processed 24.51 billion transactions worth ₹29.82 trillion in August 2026, highlighting the scale of digital payments in the country.
For small retailers, the combined device could reduce the need to manage multiple pieces of payment hardware at the counter. Pharmacies, grocery stores, salons and other neighbourhood businesses increasingly handle transactions through a mix of UPI and card payments, creating demand for simpler payment infrastructure.
The launch also reflects Qualcomm’s broader push beyond smartphones into connected devices and retail technology. With India’s digital payment market continuing to evolve, affordable hardware that brings multiple payment methods together could help make digital transactions more convenient for merchants and customers alike.
