The SKN Foundation, through its South Asian Center for Diabetes & Heart Health (SADH) initiative, will host a full day of diabetes education focused on prevention, early detection, and improved care on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at The Imperia in Somerset, New Jersey.
The day will feature a morning educational conference for healthcare professionals followed by an evening program for the community featuring internationally renowned diabetes specialist Dr. V. Mohan.
Morning Conference for Healthcare Professionals
From 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., healthcare professionals are invited to attend:
“Advancing Diabetes Care in South Asians Across the Lifespan: Redefining Early Detection & Prevention Frameworks.”
South Asians face a disproportionately high risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, often developing these conditions at younger ages and lower body weights. The conference will address strategies for earlier recognition, prevention, diagnosis, and culturally responsive care.

Topics will include diabetes across the lifespan, cardiometabolic and cardiovascular risk, earlier screening and diagnosis, continuous glucose monitoring, precision medicine, digital health, and health disparities among South Asians.
Evening Community Program
From 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., the SKN Foundation will welcome Dr. V. Mohan for a community presentation:
“Can We Prevent—and Even Reverse—Type 2 Diabetes?”
Dr. Mohan is internationally recognized for his work in diabetes research, prevention, treatment, and education, particularly among South Asians and other high-risk populations.
His presentation will focus on practical approaches to understanding and reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes, including the importance of lifestyle, early intervention, screening, and awareness.
The program is designed to provide individuals and families with accessible information they can use to make informed decisions about their health.
Connecting Professional Education and Community Health
Through SADH, the SKN Foundation seeks to address the disproportionate burden of diabetes and cardiovascular disease among South Asians through education, prevention, early detection, and community engagement.
By bringing healthcare professionals and community members together, the September 9 programs aim to strengthen clinical knowledge while providing families with practical information to help reduce their risk and improve their health.
