The makers of Dada – The Sourav Ganguly Story unveiled the first-look poster of the much-awaited biographical drama starring Rajkummar Rao as former India captain Sourav Ganguly, coinciding with the cricket legend’s birthday. The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on May 14, 2027.

The poster recreates one of the most defining moments in Indian cricket history—Ganguly waving his jersey from the Lord’s balcony after India’s dramatic victory over England in the 2002 NatWest Trophy final. The celebration has long been regarded as a symbol of India’s fearless new approach under Ganguly’s leadership, and Rao’s transformation into the former captain has generated significant attention online.

Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg under the Luv Films banner, the biopic will chronicle Ganguly’s rise from a promising young cricketer to one of India’s most influential captains. The film aims to highlight his leadership, resilience and lasting impact on Indian cricket.

Sharing the poster, Sourav Ganguly described it as the “best birthday gift,” while praising Rao’s commitment to portraying his journey. Rao also marked the occasion by wishing Ganguly on social media while unveiling the poster.

The first look has sparked widespread discussion across social media. While many fans applauded Rao’s portrayal and welcomed the recreation of the iconic Lord’s moment, others expressed reservations about the poster’s visual design, resulting in mixed reactions online. Despite the divided opinions, the unveiling has heightened anticipation for one of Bollywood’s most-awaited sports biopics, which seeks to celebrate the life and legacy of the former Indian captain.
