India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has emerged as the most sought-after player ahead of the next Indian Premier League (IPL) season, with as many as seven franchises reportedly expressing interest in acquiring the Mumbai Indians captain during the ongoing trade window.
According to multiple media reports, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have joined the race alongside several other franchises, initiating discussions with Mumbai Indians over the possibility of securing the services of the star all-rounder. While no agreement has been finalised, the growing interest underscores Pandya’s continued value despite an eventful last IPL campaign.
Pandya returned to Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2024 in a blockbuster trade from Gujarat Titans and was subsequently named captain, replacing Rohit Sharma. The decision sparked widespread debate among fans and pundits and coincided with a challenging season for the five-time champions. However, Pandya has since enjoyed a resurgence with the Indian team, playing a pivotal role in India’s recent successes in ICC tournaments and reaffirming his status as one of world cricket’s premier all-rounders.
Sources indicate that multiple franchises view Pandya as a transformational signing capable of strengthening both leadership and squad balance. CSK’s reported interest has particularly attracted attention, given the franchise’s search for experienced Indian players who can contribute across departments and potentially lead the side in the future.
At present, Mumbai Indians have not made any official statement suggesting they are willing to part ways with their captain. Any potential move would require mutual agreement between the franchises and compliance with IPL trading regulations.
With the trade window still open, discussions are expected to continue in the coming weeks. Whether Pandya remains at Mumbai Indians or headlines another blockbuster transfer, his future is set to be one of the biggest talking points ahead of the next IPL season.
