The much-awaited romantic drama Cocktail 2, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna, has received mixed reactions from audiences after its release, with social media users divided over the film’s storyline, performances and overall impact. While some viewers praised the chemistry between the lead actors and the film’s visual appeal, others criticised it for lacking emotional depth.

Directed by Homi Adajania, Cocktail 2 is seen as a follow-up to the 2012 film Cocktail, which featured Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty. The new film revolves around another complicated relationship equation involving Shahid Kapoor’s character and the two female leads, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna.

Early reactions on X (formerly Twitter) showed a divided response. Several viewers appreciated Kriti Sanon’s performance, the chemistry among the cast and the film’s music and presentation. Some called it an entertaining romantic drama with a fresh energy. However, a section of audiences felt the film relied heavily on style and glamour, describing it as visually attractive but emotionally weak.

The performances of the three lead actors remained one of the biggest discussion points online. Fans highlighted the pairing of Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, while Rashmika Mandanna’s role also attracted attention. The film’s trailer had already sparked debate among viewers, with many comparing it to the original Cocktail and questioning whether the sequel could match its impact.

Despite criticism, the film generated significant buzz before release due to its star-studded cast and connection with the earlier franchise. The makers had positioned the movie as a modern take on relationships, love and emotional conflicts.
