Punjab was placed on high alert after two back-to-back explosions on Tuesday night near key security sites in Jalandhar and Amritsar. The first blast took place around 8 pm outside the Border Security Force (BSF) Punjab Frontier headquarters in Jalandhar, while the second happened later near an Army cantonment area in Amritsar.

According to reports, a scooter parked outside the BSF headquarters caught fire and exploded in Jalandhar’s BSF Chowk area. CCTV footage showed flames and debris spreading quickly, and the blast caused panic among people nearby. In Amritsar, the explosion was reported in the Khasa area, close to the cantonment and around 15 km from the Attari-Wagah border.

No major casualties have been reported so far, but one BSF guard is said to have suffered splinter injuries in Jalandhar. Police and security agencies rushed to both places soon after the blasts. Forensic teams were sent to collect samples, and the areas were cordoned off as part of the probe.

Officials are still checking whether the two incidents are linked. Some reports said the explosions happened within about two hours of each other, while one account placed the second blast at around 10.50 pm. The exact cause of both blasts is still under investigation.

Security has now been tightened across Punjab as agencies continue their inquiry. The incidents have raised fresh concern because both happened near sensitive defence establishments in a border state.
