Eye Foundation of America (EFA) proudly celebrated its 50th year of dedicated service to children with a highly successful charity gala fundraiser recently held at The Imperia by Dhaba in New Jersey. The milestone event brought together more than 200 attendees, including friends, supporters, donors, board members, and partners, in a powerful evening of purpose, generosity, and celebration.
Led by Board Members Sam Maddali and Sekhar Vemparala, the gala highlighted five decades of EFA’s commitment to transforming young lives. The evening featured a vibrant live band performance that energized the audience and underscored the spirit of unity behind the cause.
The event raised over $100,000, with an extraordinary matching initiative that amplified its impact. Every dollar contributed was first matched by EFA Founder and President, Dr. V.K. Raju, and then further matched by Board Member Dr. Srinu Maddula—resulting in a remarkable fourfold increase in total funds generated.
“This milestone is not just about looking back at 50 years of service, but about accelerating our mission for the future,” said Dr Leela V Raju President EFA. “The overwhelming support we witnessed reflects a shared belief in creating lasting change for children.”
Proceeds from the gala will directly support two key initiatives in India: the development of the new Goutami Building and the expansion of the ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity) program. Both initiatives are critical to advancing healthcare access and improving outcomes for vulnerable children.
As EFA enters its next chapter, the organization remains steadfast in its vision—empowering children through sustainable programs, compassionate care, and global community support.
