India has told its people in Iran to leave the country quickly. This comes as a two-week ceasefire begins between the US and Iran. The Indian Embassy in Tehran gave this strong advice on April 8, 2026.

The new alert says Indian nationals still in Iran must exit fast. They should work with the Embassy and use only the routes it suggests. No one should try to reach any land border on their own. The Embassy shared helpline numbers and email for help.

This follows an earlier note on April 7. Back then, Indians were asked to stay put for 48 hours.

The ceasefire news broke on April 8. US President Donald Trump said both sides agreed to stop fighting for two weeks. This is if Iran fully reopens the Strait of Hormuz. Talks, helped by Pakistan, may follow. Trump called Iran’s 10-point peace plan a good base.

India wants no risks for its citizens. About 10,000 Indians live or work in Iran. Many are students or traders. The government set up special flights earlier. Now, with the pause in war, it pushes for quick exit.

Indians must stay in touch with the Embassy. Helplines run 24/7 for safe travel plans.

The Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi backs this fully. It asks Indians in Iran to follow rules for safety and check official updates often.
