Advocate Akhilesh Singh Rawat has been appointed as one of the youngest Deputy Advocate Generals representing the State of Uttarakhand before the Supreme Court of India. Originally from Jaunsar Bawar, Dehradun, Rawat studied at St. Joseph’s Academy before moving to Delhi for higher education. He graduated from Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), University of Delhi, where he served as Vice President of the Students’ Union (ABVP). He later completed his LL.B. from the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, and enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi.

In his early years, he was actively involved in students politics in Delhi University as an Active Member of ABVP .As Delhi State Convenor of the World Organization of Students and Youth (WOSY), he helped organise several international conferences in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs and took part in initiatives linked to the Indo-Africa Summit. He is also the founder of the Jaunsar Bawar Student Association (JBSA), Delhi, through which he has supported and guided many students from Uttarakhand in shaping their academic and professional paths.

Rawat has also been part of several public and institutional roles. He served on the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal, where he was among the youngest members and chaired the Faculty Grievance Committee. He was also a member of the Telecom Advisory Committee for Uttarakhand under the Ministry of Communications.

Over the past decade, he has built a wide-ranging practice, appearing regularly before the Supreme Court, Delhi High Court, District Courts, and forums such as the NCLT, NCDRC, NGT, MP/MLA Court, and the PMLA Appellate Tribunal. His work includes matters related to white-collar crime, including cases involving the CBI and Enforcement Directorate, as well as criminal, environmental, matrimonial, and commercial disputes.

He previously worked as a Legal Consultant for Paytm and currently advises organisations such as News Corp (India), one of the leading media houses globally, is appointment is being seen as a recognition of consistent work and is likely to encourage young legal professionals across the country.
