Two Indian workers from India were killed and 10 others were injured in a drone attack in Oman’s Sohar industrial area, the Indian government said on Friday. The attack took place in the Al Awahi Industrial Area, about 200 km from the capital Muscat. Officials said all the injured are out of danger and are being treated in local hospitals.

According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the two people who died were Indian nationals working in the area. A senior MEA official said that 11 workers were injured in the attack, of whom 10 are Indians. Five of them have already been discharged after treatment, while the other five are still in hospital but do not have serious injuries.

Oman’s news agency reported that two unmanned aerial vehicles crashed near Sohar, and one of the drones hit the Al Awahi Industrial Zone, killing two expatriate workers. This incident is part of a wider wave of drone and missile attacks linked to rising tensions in West Asia. Officials said this is the first time Indian citizens have been killed on land in the region since the current phase of conflict began in late February.

The Indian embassy in Oman is in touch with local authorities and the company that employs the workers.
