Bollywood star Akshay Kumar showed his fun side on the popular game show Wheel of Fortune. In a new episode, he shared his big love for Gujarati thali and dishes like undhiyu and tuar ki daal. The actor, known for his fit body and strict diet, said nothing beats home-style Indian food.
The chat happened with guest Viraj Gehlani, a content creator from a Gujarati family. Viraj talked about his childhood meals. “Monday was tuar ki daal, Wednesday moong ki daal, Friday kadhi, and Saturday urad ki daal,” he said. In winter, they enjoyed undhiyu, a tasty mixed veggie dish.
Akshay got excited and replied, “Gujarati khana mujhe bahut pasand hai. Thali ka maza edamame ya fancy foods mein nahi milta.” He laughed at trendy eats like avocado toast and truffle pasta. Viraj joked that after marriage, he now eats avocado on Monday and sourdough bread on Tuesday because of his wife.
The two stars poked fun at expensive global foods. Viraj said he eats truffle mushroom pasta even if he does not like it, just to fit in with “big people.” Akshay asked, “What’s the benefit?” Viraj laughed, “It’s expensive, sir!” They shared stories of not knowing what avocado was before. Viraj’s mom thought it was kiwi!
Viraj also mimicked his new “English” talk after marriage, saying words like “preposterous.” Akshay related, saying his story is a bit similar. He even struggled to say “Mushroom Tagliatelle” once, making everyone laugh hard.
This light-hearted talk shows Akshay’s down-to-earth side. Fans love seeing stars enjoy simple joys like a good thali. Catch the fun on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV.
