India’s car and bike market saw a big jump last month. Retail sales of vehicles rose by 25.6 percent to touch 24 lakh units, said the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).
Two-wheelers led the way with over 17 lakh units sold, up 25 percent from last year. Urban areas grew faster at nearly 29 percent, while rural spots rose 22 percent, thanks to good farm income and wedding buys. Passenger cars jumped 26 percent as people wanted SUVs and family vehicles. Trucks and three-wheelers also did well, up 29 percent and 24 percent.
Tractors grew the most at 36 percent, showing strong farm work demand. Only building machines fell a bit by 1 percent. Dealers say new tax cuts like GST 2.0, deals from makers, and steady jobs helped sales. Rural money from crops and city needs for rides fueled the boom.
FADA calls February a top month ever for most vehicle types. About 76 percent of dealers see more growth in March, with good orders in line. But some models faced short supply.
This sales rush shows India’s auto sector is strong. It points to steady economy and buyer trust amid new rules. Experts watch if the trend holds as the year goes on.
