Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj has fired back at critics panning his latest release O’Romeo, boldly declaring it his most successful film ever. Starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, the movie has stirred mixed reactions since its February 13 theatrical debut, but Bhardwaj remains unshaken in his pride. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, it has grossed Rs 43.85 crore so far.

In a strongly worded statement, Bhardwaj dismissed the negativity, asserting, “This is going to be one of my most successful films. I need to say this to break the hearts of critics who panned the film. No matter what they felt, this is going to be the most successful film of my life.” He expressed deep satisfaction with the violence-and-love narrative, saying, “I am so proud of this film. I am not ashamed of it at all. I am so happy. I am so proud of the violence-and-love story I’ve created.”

Adapted from Hussain Zaidi’s Mafia Queens of Mumbai, O’Romeo follows gangster Ustara (Shahid Kapoor) aiding Afsha Qureshi, aka Rani Sharma (Triptii Dimri). The cast boasts Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani, Farida Jalal, and Vikrant Massey, blending high-stakes drama with intense performances.

The film faced pre-release controversy when Sanober Shaikh, daughter of real-life gangster Hussain Ustara, petitioned a Mumbai court for a stay, claiming lack of consent and objection to her father’s portrayal. The court rejected the plea, greenlighting the premiere. Bhardwaj’s defiance underscores his conviction that box office verdict will silence detractors, positioning O’Romeo prominently in his acclaimed filmography alongside hits like Haider and Omkara.
