After an extensive dialogue, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed was presented with a key by Humboldt Mayor Marvin Sikes to the City of Humboldt, a city in the Gibson and Madison counties of Tennessee, on December 17, 2025.

Zed is President of Universal Society of Hinduism.

Founded in 1851, Humboldt, named for German naturalist Alexander von Humboldt and known as the “Strawberry Capital of the World”, has hosted the weeklong West Tennessee Strawberry Festival since 1934, held during the first week of May. It is reportedly one of the largest and longest-running community celebrations in Tennessee and includes one of the largest non-motorized parades in the world.

Humboldt is also home to “Herbie Town”, a unique handcrafted landmark (also called “town”) built in a backyard, that recreates 19th-century Americana.

T. G. Sheppard, American country music singer, was born in Humboldt.
