Indian tennis legend Sania Mirza, retired Grand Slam champion, was captured coaching her seven-year-old son Izhaan in an adorable video that has gone viral on social media, evoking nostalgia for her illustrious career.

Shared by Sania’s mother, Nasima Mirza, on Instagram, the clip shows the former World No. 1 in doubles guiding Izhaan on the court as he practices strokes with evident passion. Nasima captioned it: “Nostalgic, Nostalgic, Nostalgic. Watching daughter and grandson playing same sport, tennis, with same passion. Alhamdulillah.” Fans highlighted Izhaan’s left-handed style, contrasting Sania’s right-handed prowess.

Sania, who retired in 2023 after securing six Grand Slam titles—three in women’s doubles and three in mixed doubles—appears to be passing her expertise to the next generation. Born in October 2018 during her marriage to ex-Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik, whom she divorced that same year, Izhaan represents a new chapter for the 38-year-old icon.

Post-retirement, Sania has opened up about motherhood’s trials. In a candid YouTube interview, she described breastfeeding challenges: “It is never 50-50 between both parents… the emotional and mental aspects were draining,” noting the sleep deprivation and scheduling demands on working mothers.
