This Sunday, on September 28th, history is going to be created as for the first time arch rivals Pakistan and India are going to battle it out in the finals of the Asia Cup to be crowned the best team in the continent. The two neighboring countries have never faced each other in the finals of the Asia cup tournament whether it was the ODI format or the T20I format.
For the record, India have won the Asia Cup title on most occasions, with 8 trophies to their name, while Pakistan sit third in the list, behind Sri Lanka (6 titles), with just two trophies to their name. Despite both teams having 10 trophies combined, they never had the opportunity to face each other in the title showdown but that is going to change come this Sunday.
India will be playing their last match today, on September 26th, against Sri Lanka and will then gear up for the finals clash against arch-enemy Pakistan. Pakistan defeated Bangladesh on Thursday by 11 runs in a close encounter that saw Pakistan’s bowlers snatch the game away from Bangladesh.
Pakistan and India have faced each other twice in Asia cup 2025 and both times India has come up on top defeating their rivals in a convincing fashion. However, what has become the talking point of the whole tournament is the controversies that have surrounded their clashes.
