Ladakh has been under serious struggle in the past few days as the statehood for Ladakh movement has incited violence, arson, and street clashes in Leh this Wednesday, on September 24th. This has led to 4 people losing their lives and around 80 being injured.
The Union Home Minister of India, Amit Shah, however has stated that the situation in Ladakh is completely under control and since 4 pm yesterday there has been no recorded incidents of violence in the region. In a statement, the Home Ministry has also asked individuals not to circulate any old videos in the media and on social media platforms that might end up provoking the masses.
“Barring unfortunate incidents that happened early in the day, the situation in Ladakh is brought under control by 4 pm,” the statement from the Home Ministry stated.
The Ministry also tried to consolidate the people of Ladakh and stated that the Central Government is fully committed to fulfill the aspirations of the citizens of Ladakh. They are making sure that the people get their adequate constitutional safeguards in the coming future.
As per the officials, along with the 4 deaths in the region due to violence, there were at least 80 people who got injured. Out of the 80 injured, 40 were police professionals deployed in the area. It was reported that police and paramilitary forces were deployed in strength across the town to calm things down. They lobbed teargas shells to bring the raging situation under control.
