The ongoing ‘Handshake controversy’ between India and Pakistan has shifted the focus from the Asia Cup 2025. The two arch enemesis now stand against each other owing to the huge controversy where Indian players refused to shake hands with Pakistan’s players after their clash on 14th September. The action sparked a huge debate on both sides and even resulted in delay in Pakistan’s clash against UAE.

Recently, former Pakistan bowler, Mohammad Amir has added fuel to the fire with just a simple post that he shared on his social media account on Thursday, September 18th. Amir shared a picture of himself alongside Indian batting legend Virat Kohli, calling him the best player as well as ‘human being’ from India.

Pakistan’s legend wrote, “One thing is for sure, Virat is the best player and human being in Indian cricket history. Respect.”

The remark that looking from the top appeared to be a compliment to one of the best players to come out of India, Virat Kohli. But many soon figured out that the post might’ve been a subtle dig at the current Indian squad who refused to share pleasantries with the Pakistani side. The post went viral on social media, igniting heated debates among fans on both sides of the border.

As far as the whole controversy is concerned, it is being reported that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is really upset over the comments made by Indian Captain Suryakumar Yadav in the post-match presentations.

Surya had dedicated that victory to the armed forces of India who took part in Operation Sindoor and stated that he stands in solidarity with the families of victims of Pahalgam terror attack. The PCB has stated that they believe the Indian captain had violated the spirit of the game by making a political statement on a sporting platform.
