A woman by the name of Dhruvee Patel has put out a post alleging that a group of 56 Indian travellers were treated with the “most inhuman behaviour” by authorities in Georgia. She explained that they were attempting to enter the country from Armenia and were treated inhumanely even though they had the e-visas and documents. They were humiliated and faced prolonged detention at the Sadakhlo border.
Dhruvee put up a post which revealed that the group was made to wait 5 plus hours in the freezing cold environment without any food or toilet. She even put out allegations on the officials for confiscating their passports for 2 plus hours without any communication. She stated that the group was forced to sit on the footpath just like cattle.
In the post she brought to everyone’s notice that the official took videos of them like they were a bunch of criminals however, when they tried to film the incident they were stopped. Dhruvee also added that the authorities didn’t even check documents and simply claimed that their visas were faulty.
Ms Patel called this treatment utterly shameful and completely unacceptable. She tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in her post and wrote, “India must take a strong stand.” Ms Patel ended her post with a sharp rebuke. “This is how Georgia treats Indians. Shameful & unacceptable!”
The post drew many responses, with people sharing the similar experiences they had in Georgia. One user sympathised with Dhruvee and highlighted that the issue has happened before as well.
“Sorry to hear that. Also this isn’t the first post I’ve seen of Georgia. It’s been bad and happening for a long time now,” a user wrote.
Another user questioned why Indians still visit Georgia despite such reports. He wrote, “When this behaviour has been consistent from Georgia then why do Indians keep going there.”
