Born on 17th September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be celebrating his 75th birthday this Wednesday. And just like every year, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be organising the ‘Sewa Pakhwara’, a fortnight of events all across the country that will mark PM Modi’s birthday celebrations and will showcase his commitment to welfare of citizens and the way he has served the nation.
This year, on his birthday, the PM will likely visit Bihar as it is coinciding with the Pitru Paksha Mela in Gayaji. The Pitru Paksha Mela is a spiritual gathering that draws lakhs of devotees from across India and abroad in Gayaji. However, there is no confirmation as of yet from the PM’s end that he will be attending the event.
In the past years, Narendra Modi has spent his birthday launching welfare schemes, or participating in public service initiatives, in place of hosting personal celebrations. Here’s how PM Modi celebrated his birthday in the past few years –
2024: Last year, PM Modi visited Odisha and laid the foundation stone of various development projects worth more than ₹3800 crore in the state’s capital Bhubaneswar. Along with that the PM also launched ‘SUBHADRA’, which is a flagship scheme of the Odisha government and is the largest single women-centric scheme covering more than 1 crore women.
2023: In 2023, the PM announced the PM Vishwakarma Yojana which was brought to enhance the skill of craftsmen and artisans in India. He also launched two infrastructure projects – India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC) and the extension of Delhi Airport Express line.
2022: This year, on his birthday, there were eight Cheetahs released into Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park as part of Cheetah Re-introduction project.
2021: To mark PM Modi’s 71st birthday, India, which was fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, administered a record 2.26 crore vaccines in a single day to tackle the fatal pandemic.
2020: In 2020, when the PM turned 70, there were no major celebrations as like the rest of the world India was fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of “Sewa Saptah”, the BJP organised camps at several cities across the country to distribute rations and donate blood to those in need.
