This Sunday, September 14th, a horrific accident in which a senior official of the Union Ministry of Finance lost his life and three people including the official’s wife suffered heavy injury. The person who lost his life in the horrific incident was identified as Navjot Singh, Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance.
It was reported by the police department that a BMW car had allegedly hit his bike near the Delhi Cantonment metro station on Ring Road. As per the official statement by the police department, there were three PCR calls received in the afternoon about a traffic jam near metro pillar number 67 on the Dhaula Kuan-Delhi Cantt metro station stretch. As soon as they got the information, a police team rushed to the spot and found a BMW lying sideways on the road and a motorcycle parked near the road divider.
The eyewitnesses of the whole incident told police that a woman was driving the car and rammed it into a motorcycle from behind. Singh was driving the motorcycle with his wife seated behind him on the pillion. The couple was rushed to the hospital in a taxi by the woman who was driving the car and her husband. While the wife is still undergoing treatment due to the injuries, Singh couldn’t make it and succumbed to his injuries and lost his life.
“The BMW and the motorcycle involved in the accident have been seized. The accident spot was examined by a crime team and experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory were called in for assistance,” a senior police officer said.
“A first information report is being registered in the matter, and an investigation is underway,” the official added. Police have stated that efforts are being made to find out the sequence of events and circumstances leading to the crash.
