Ashneer Grover is hosting the new reality show titled ‘Rise and Fall’ that streams on Amazon MX Player. In an interview, Ashneer took some shots at Bollywood superstar Salman Khan who hosts one of the biggest reality show’s of India, Bigg Boss. Ashneer has accused Salman, without taking his name, of ‘hijacking’ the balance of power in the show that should be focused on contestants.
Ashneer, who had taken shots at Salman Khan previously as well, said that the power in a reality show should come from the contestants rather than the superstar host. He stated that it is the contestants who are putting in the hours and the host comes for just weekends and makes it about him.
“Reality shows have to be about contestants. Fortunately, or unfortunately, in India we have had a very big show which has had a very big superstar. And therefore, it’s become more about him than the contestants, right? But the fact is, who is putting in the hours? Bhai aap to ek weekend mein aa rahe ho. Jo 24 ghante lage hain woh to contestant lage hue hai,” Ashneer said.
“The balance of power has to go back to contestants and the content that comes out of contestants. Rather than it being hijacked by someone you know who comes over the weekend,” he added.
The rift between Ashneer and Salman is no news and the whole controversy between the two celebrities began when Ashneer, in a previous interview, told of an incident when the two met on a shoot of a sponsored advertisement. Ashneer claimed that Salman’s manager told him that he wouldn’t take a picture with him.
The matter got even bigger when last year, Ashneer appeared on Bigg Boss 18 as a guest. At the show, Salman Khan schooled him over his controversial remark and even mocked him by telling him to be careful about his words.
