India will soon be starting their Asia Cup 2025 campaign and they will be one of the favourites in the upcoming T20 tournament. The team led by Suryakumar Yadav features some of the biggest match winners in Indian cricket such as Shubman Gill, the newly anointed vice-captain, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Tilak Varma and others. However, former Indian Cricket legend, Virender Sehwag believes that there are three players who might be the game-changers for India.
While talking about who he thinks can be a game-changer for India in the tournament, former Indian opener, Sehwag took three names – opener Abhishek Sharma, star pacer Jasprit Bumrah and mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy. Sehwag believes that these players can win India games on their own.
“I think Abhishek Sharma can be a game-changer. Bumrah is always a game-changer. Varun Chakravarthy, with his mystery bowling, was very effective in the Champions Trophy and in the T20 format as well. So, these are some game changers for India who can win matches on their own,” said Sehwag.
Sehwag also talked about the whole fiasco of work load management that has become a hot topic in Indian cricket. He agreed that bowlers need workload management more than the batters and if managed properly they can play for a long time. He highlighted that the current fast bowling lot staying fit is very important for India’s chances in big events.
“I think workload is important, especially for bowlers. For batsmen, I don’t think workload is a problem, since they can play and don’t have to play too many matches anyway. So, I think it’s important mainly for bowlers, especially fast bowlers,” he said.
“If they are managed properly, they can play for a longer time. For India, it’s important that all fast bowlers stay fit, because in big events like the Asia Cup or World Cup, if they are available, India’s chances of winning will be higher,” he added.
