Saiyaara has gone on a generational run that no one in the world would have expected. The movie that was released more than a month ago on 18th July, is still going strong in the box office entering its sixth week. After maintaining its run on the big screens across the country for 40 days and has racked in the total amount of Rs 328.20 crore, as per the reports.
The directorial venture of Mohit Suri starring two debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda has maintained a ‘slow but steady’ momentum on the box office. The movie has stayed resilient even after clashes with movies from film industry’s biggest superstars like Rajnikant, Jr. NTR and Hrithik Roshan who have dominated the occupancy rates in the theatres.
As per the reports, this weekend, the movie earned Rs 35 lakh on Friday, followed by Rs 70 lakh on Saturday and a solid ending to the week with Rs 80 lakh on Sunday. Even though the numbers have been low in the past weeks with the release of big budget films like War 2 and Coolie, Saiyaara has not stopped its dream run in the theatres.
The movie has shocked everyone as it has emerged as the second-highest grossing film of the year standing just behind Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava. The film also set a huge record becoming one of the highest grossing opening weekends of the year. In the first week the movie earned Rs 172.75 crore, breaking a string of records. It then continued its stellar performance in the big screens with week two, earning Rs 107.75 crore.
The movie then started slowing down in the coming weeks and in its 3rd week, the film minted Rs 28.25 crore. In the following week 4, the movie earned Rs 14.1 and at the end of fifth week the movie earned Rs 2.95 crore at the domestic box office.
