Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, along with six executives from Hyundai, have been booked in a fraud case after a Rajasthan woman filed a complaint alleging defects in her Hyundai car. The FIR, lodged at Mathura Gate Police Station on the directions of a Bharatpur court, accuses the actors and the company under Section 420 (cheating) and other provisions.

The complaint was filed by Kirti Singh of Bharatpur, who claimed her Hyundai car developed technical issues from the day of purchase. According to Singh, repeated complaints went unanswered by the company, prompting her to approach the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court No. 2. Following hearings, the court directed police to register the case.

The FIR names Khan and Padukone because they endorse Hyundai as brand ambassadors. Under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, endorsers can face penalties if a product they promote is found to be defective or misleading. Singh stated she bought the car based on advertisements featuring the two actors.

Khan has been associated with Hyundai since 1998, most recently fronting the launch of Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 electric SUV at Auto Expo 2023. Padukone joined the brand in December 2023 and starred alongside Khan in the 2024 Hyundai Creta campaign.

Police officials said investigations are underway and statements will be recorded from the complainant and the company’s representatives. Hyundai India has not yet issued a statement.
