The National Security Advisor (NSA) of India, Ajit Doval who is currently on a visit to Russia amidst the current chaos around the crude oil imports, has stated that the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin is planning to visit India. The news has come out as a rare positive for India in recent times where the President of the United States, Donald Trump has bombarded the country with huge tariffs.

Mr. Doval recently announced that he is very excited to announce that President Putin is going to visit India and even the dates are nearly finalised. He even stated that India values its long-standing relationship with Russia which has helped the nation substantially.

NSA Ajit Doval said, “We have got a special, long relationship, and we value this relationship. We have had high-level engagement, and these high-level engagements have contributed very substantially. We are very excited and delighted to learn about the visit of President Putin to India. I think the dates are almost finalised now.”

This Wednesday, on August 6th, Donald Trump announced that he is going to double the rate of tariffs and the US is now going to impose 50% duties on Indian goods. These tariffs would come to effect later in the month on August 27th. He has stated that this penalty has been imposed because India has continued to import crude oil from Russia. Trump has also warned other countries hinting that China could be next in line as they alongside India are the biggest buyers of Russian Oil.

On the other hand, both the leaders of US and Russia, Trump and Putin are likely to meet as soon as next week. This will mark a pivotal moment looking at the current antics as Trump is looking to ramp up pressure on Russia with this tariff campaign while pushing for an end to the war in Ukraine.
