The Indian Cricket Team has suffered a huge blow on Day 1 of the 4th Test in Manchester as Rishabh Pant was carried off the pitch after suffering an injury on his right foot. Pant was struck on his foot by a nipping yorker by England pacer, Chris Woakes.

Rishabh Pant started his innings by smashing the English bowlers in his own unique style, playing his unorthodox shots. As he was looking to continue the onslaught, he was hit on the foot by a yorker from Woakes which he was looking to reverse sweep. He was seen in tremendous pain as he couldn’t even stand and had to be taken off the field.

Ravi Shastri, former Indian Head Coach, stated that Pant has a very high threshold for pain but this injury seems very serious as he was grimacing in pain. He stated that it might really go worse next morning and hopes that it’s neither a break or a crack.

“Just seeing his face, grimacing there. He has a pain threshold that’s very high, and for him to be grimacing in pain in that fashion makes it very serious. It can only get worse overnight. When you get up in the morning, it can be really sore, no matter the amount of ice you put on. He will be icing it through the night. Let’s hope it’s not a break or it’s not a crack,” Shastri said.

Many believed that Pant will be out for the rest of the series and India might be looking at Dhruv Jurel to replace the wicket-keeper batsman in the playing 11. There were some reports that even suggested that Ishan Kishan might be added to the squad for the final test.

However, Pant has shocked everyone as he walked into bat just before Lunch on Day 2 of the match. When English skipper, Ben Stokes dismissed Shardul Thakur, many expected Anshul Kamboj to walk in but the Indian Vice-captain came out to bat limping on one leg. The crowd acknowledged the heart shown by Pant and he was welcomed with a huge roar and a round of applause.
