As Artificial Intelligence is taking over the world and is overtaking many jobs around various different fields. The founder of the online payment app Paytm, Vijay Shekhar Sharma has stated the same and has said that it is ‘inevitable’ that AI will overtake many jobs.
Mr. Sharma spoke in length on how AI in near future will be a huge part of business routines all around the world. He also emphasized that it’ll all happen sooner than what people are expecting. He also stated that although AI will take over and automate several human functions it will also create newer jobs for people.
“Sooner or later we will have to start using AI as an employee or even as a CFO,” Sharma said while he was at an event focused on AI in New Delhi.
As per the reports, Sharma said that AI would eventually be replacing employees and perform all the tasks. He addressed that the companies should focus more on building core products in the future. He outlined a border vision for his company as it looks to move past its Fintech roots and become an AI-first firm going forward.
These statements by the Paytm founder are very significant to the current landscape of its parent company One97 Communications. The parent company at the moment has been in the news for major job cuts. It was recently reported that the company laid off an unspecified number of employees last month.
While at the event in New Delhi, Sharma had also announced a passbook feature in the Paytm app that will take Paytm’s data and convert it into a rap song to tell you your monthly expenses. The founder has not yet shared a launch date for the new feature, but Sharma has confirmed that the feature will be available soon for the users.
