Anurag Basu’s musical romantic drama Metro In Dino witnessed a significant jump in box office collections on its second day, earning ₹6.81 crore net, a 68% increase from its opening day’s ₹4.05 crore net collection. This growth was driven primarily by strong evening and night show performances in urban centers, the film’s key target audience.

Released on Friday, July 4, Metro In Dino received mostly positive reviews from critics, which helped boost word-of-mouth and contributed to the Saturday surge. In total, the film has grossed ₹10.86 crore net in India over its first two days, with a gross domestic collection of ₹12.81 crore after GST adjustments.

Despite this promising growth, concerns remain about whether the film can sustain momentum, especially given its reportedly high production budget estimated at ₹85 crore. Without major stars attached to the project, the film’s performance is considered underwhelming relative to its investment. Industry watchers note that steady weekday collections will be crucial for Metro In Dino to recover costs and maintain box office presence ahead of the release of Son Of Sardaar 2 on July 25.

Looking ahead, the film is expected to see some growth on Sunday, aiming for collections between ₹8-9 crore. However, with Monday marking a typical drop in occupancy for night shows, crossing the ₹10 crore mark on day three seems unlikely.
