Hollywood star and wrestling icon John Cena expressed heartfelt gratitude to his Indian fanbase at the London premiere of his latest action-comedy, Heads of State. The event, held amid much fanfare, saw Cena reflect on the pivotal role Indian audiences have played in his career, both as a WWE superstar and as an actor.
“The enthusiasm, the hospitality, and the welcome I’ve received from India have always been incredible,” Cena said. “Even though I’ve only been there briefly, I’ve always felt the love. I want to say thank you again—because of the investment the audience of India has given to me, I’ve done my best to pay it forward. I would not be where I am if not for the support from India. I’m so grateful,” he added with a smile.
Heads of State, now streaming on Prime Video, features Cena as Will Derringer, a former action star turned U.S. President. He teams up with British Prime Minister Sam Clarke, played by Idris Elba, and MI6 agent Noel Bisset, portrayed by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, to thwart a global conspiracy. The film, directed by Ilya Naishuller, has drawn attention for its blend of high-octane action and sharp comedy, as well as the chemistry between its international cast.
Cena also credited comedic legends Jim Carrey and Jackie Chan for inspiring his physical comedy style, noting, “Jim Carrey is so underrated when it comes to physical comedy. I’ve watched him my whole life—he can make me laugh, cry, feel anger or joy. That’s what I aspire to”.
The London premiere was attended by co-stars Priyanka Chopra and Idris Elba, with fans and media celebrating the film’s global appeal. Cena’s message to Indian fans resonated widely, underscoring the growing influence of Indian audiences in international entertainment.
