The whole internet and media have been on an outrage ever since the news of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir being part of Diljit Dosanjh’s Sardaar Ji 3 came out. Sonakshi Sinha, who is currently on a promotion tour of her new movie ‘Nikita Roy’, talked about the ban on Pakistani artists in the Indian film industry. Sinha stated that she stands with whatever decision that her country takes.
The Indian Government put a ban on Pakistani artists in India in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terrorist attack that took 26 innocent lives. Sonakshi Sinha was asked her opinion on the situation and she answered with utmost clarity.
Addressing the situation, she said, “Do they allow Indian actors to work there [in Pakistan]? I mean I stand in solidarity with my country. I’ll always stand by the decision they take.”
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), which is an organisation of movie workers, had asked India to boycott Pakistani artists, singers and technicians and ban them in the Indian Film Industry after the terrorist attacks in the Kashmir valley. The organisation had asked for a ban back in 2019 as well when Pulwama faced a terrorist attack that took the lives of 40 paramilitary soldiers.
FWICE said, “Despite the ongoing directive, we’ve been made aware of the recent collaboration with Pakistani actor Fawad Khan for the Hindi film, Abir Gulaal. In light of the recent attack in Pahalgam, FWICE is once again compelled to issue a blanket boycott on all Pakistani artists, singers and technicians participating in any Indian film or entertainment projects. This includes performances or collaborations occurring anywhere in the world.”
Sonakshi Sinha’s new movie Nikita Roy was set to release on June 27th but will now be releasing on July 18th. The movie marks the directorial debut of Sonakshi’s brother Kussh S. Sinha. The movie stars Sonakshi Sinha in the titular role alongside Paresh Rawal, Arjun Rampal and Suhail Nayyar.
