People are fuming after the trailer of Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3 was released as it featured Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. As there is a ban on Pakistani artists working in India, the movie will now only see an overseas release. The movie has received backlash due to the recent conflicts between India and Pakistan and that is why film bodies have called for a ban on the movie.
Diljit Dosanjh has finally spoken about the backlash that the film is receiving and the outrage on the internet for featuring Aamir. He stated that the film was shot months ago in February and they didn’t predict that tensions would escalate so high between the two nations. He also ensured that after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the producers decided to not release the movie in the country.
“When this film was made, everything was fine. We shot it in February and things were okay back then. After that, a lot of big things happened that were beyond our control. So, the producers decided that the film obviously won’t be released in India now, so they’ll release it overseas. The producers have invested a lot of money, and when the film was being made, nothing like this was happening,” Dosanjh said.
Dosanjh, who is also a producer in the movie project, has also addressed that he knows that there will be a loss as they are not releasing it in an entire country. He said that as the situation is not under their control and he is going to support the makers in their decision.
He added, “They know there will be a loss because you’re removing an entire territory. Even when I signed the film, everything was fine. Now the situation is not in our hands. So if the producers want to release it abroad, I support them.”
