Dangeti Jahnavi becomes the first Indian to complete NASA’s Space Program

Dangeti Jahnavi from Palakollu in the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh has now made history. She became the first woman from India to complete the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) International Air and Space Program to go to space four years later in 2029.

Jahnavi is a graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering and a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) advocate along with being an asteroid discoverer. She has been selected to travel to the Titan’s Orbital Port Space Station.

The Titan’s Orbital Port Space Station is a project based in the United States that is set for inauguration in the next four years. Jahnavi was selected as an Astronaut Candidate (ASCAN) in the Class of 2025 for the prestigious Titans Space Astronaut and her selection will ensure that she will be participating in the first ever orbital mission of Titan Space.

Jahnavi is now an astronaut candidate in the Titan Space program and that will make her undergo a comprehensive three-year training program in the United States. She will be part of the mission that will be led by seasoned astronaut from the US, Bill MacArthur. She will be spending 5 hours in space as part of her mission.

In her instagram post, the STEM advocate wrote, “As a kid who believed the Moon followed me, I didn’t know it was leading me here. Today, that wonder becomes part of my reality.”

Dangeti was a space enthusiast who completed her Intermediate education in her hometown of Palakollu. She then moved to a completely different state to complete her Bachelor’s program at the Lovely Professional University in Punjab. Her parents, Srinivas and Padmasri, currently work in Kuwait and have been living there for a while.
