Harjot Singh joined the Sikh Coalition as a Federal Advocacy Manager in June of 2025. In this role, he will assist the organization’s efforts on federal policy engagement, including advocacy around congressional legislation, executive actions, and other key initiatives.
Before joining the Sikh Coalition, Harjot held a range of roles focused on policy, human rights, and community organizing. He was previously a Human Rights Fellow at the Human Rights Center at UC Berkeley School of Law, where he contributed to research on the legacies of state violence in Punjab, as well as a Legislative Intern for the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. He has also held leadership roles in several Sikh youth development nonprofits.
Harjot earned his M.A. in Human Rights Studies from Columbia University. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned dual B.A. degrees in Political Economy and South & Southeast Asian Studies, along with a minor in Public Policy. During his time at Berkeley, he served as co-President of the university’s Sikh Student Association—the oldest in the nation—where he led initiatives to promote awareness and advocacy for Sikh students on campus.
