Aamir Khan found himself in a heap of controversy after last month’s conflicts between India and Pakistan. People found it very shady that the actor reacted to the whole fiasco after a week when both nations agreed on a ceasefire. There were more fingers raised as many pointed out that the post for our armed forces came just hours before the upcoming movie’s trailer launch.
The Bollywood star recently gave an interview in which he was asked why he took so much time to react to the attack. He was asked why he took so long to respond while many of his peers and fellow industry members were rather quick to react.
Aamir stated that he condemned the attacks from the start. It just didn’t catch the public eye because he is not on social media and people react quickly over there. He stated that the attacks showed the ‘cowardice’ of the terrorists as they attacked common men on the basis of religion.
Aamir was also asked about the speculations that he only reacted to the attacks and Operation Sindoor around the time of the trailer release of his movie. Aamir clarified that he reacted without considering the trailer and he didn’t see anything wrong with it. He clarified that the trailer was supposed to release earlier but he postponed it because of the attacks,
Aamir Khan said, “If I speak about our forces delivering a befitting response, then am I doing something wrong? Should I think about the film or about our forces at that time? If I keep quiet just because my film is about to be released, I feel that’s wrong. So I spoke about it openly. The trailer was supposed to be released much earlier. I cancelled it because of the attack on our nation. I cancelled the premiere of Andaz Apna Apna that day.”
Aamir mentioned that he was a patriot at heart and no one can question his patriotism. He also claimed that people can go through his films and see the work he has done. Aamir recalled how veteran actor and director Manoj Kumar complimented him for carrying forward his legacy of patriotic films.
He said, “My patriotism reflects in my work. Watch Rang De Basanti (2006), Lagaan (2001), Sarfarosh (1999). I don’t think any other actor has done more patriotic films than I have.”
