Karisma Kapoor’s ex husband Sunjay Kapur passed away at the age of 53 on Thursday, 12th June. It was reported that Kapur died of a heart attack in London. As the news of his death broke, many bollywood stars were seen travelling to Karisma’s residence.
The sister of Karisma, Kareena Kapoor was seen rushing to her sister’s house there along with her husband Saif Ali Khan accompanied by several other celebrities from the film fraternity. Karisma’s BFFs Malaika Arora, Amrita Arora and her husband Shakeel Ladak also visited her last night supporting Karisma during the difficult time.
As the reports claim Sunjay Kapur was not ill for a long time rather he was out in the field playing polo when he felt uneasy and suffocated. Kapur stopped the game and went out of the Guards Polo Club. That’s when he suffered a heart attack and passed away.
Later, there were reports that have claimed that his heart attack was caused by a bee sting in his throat. It was said that Kapur swallowed a bee and that bee stung in his throat which caused a heart attack and took the chairman of Sona Comstar’s life away.
Sunjay was running a polo team – Aureus. He was the patron of the polo team and was playing with them. Kapur enjoyed the sport and was playing against Sujan, which is a team run by Jaisal Singh who is an author, conservationist and entrepreneur.
Sunjay Kapur was married to Priya Sachdev, but he had two divorces earlier. He was first married to Nandita Mahtani for four years from 1996 to 2000. He then married Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor which brought him in the spotlight. The couple was together for 13 years and has two children together – Daughter Samaira born in 2005 and son Kiaan born in 2011. The couple filed for divorce through mutual consent in 2014 and officially separated in 2016. A year later he married Priya, and the couple was together till now.
