In a landmark move reshaping India’s sports industry, Torrent Group has acquired a controlling 67% stake in the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Gujarat Titans (GT) through its subsidiary, Torrent Investments Private Limited (TIPL). The deal, valued at approximately INR 7,522 crore for the entire franchise—with Torrent’s stake costing INR 5,035 crore—stands as one of the largest transactions in IPL history.
This strategic acquisition signals a bold and ambitious vision for the future of the “Aava De” squad. Torrent Group’s investment is set to reinforce GT’s on-field competitiveness, as evidenced by their consistent playoff appearances, including in the 2025 season. The move also underscores the conglomerate’s commitment to transforming Gujarat Titans into a commercially powerful and deeply resonant brand within India’s rapidly growing sports sector.
Under the guidance of Jinal Mehta, Director of Torrent Group and newly appointed Managing Director of Gujarat Titans, the franchise will focus on nurturing Gujarat’s pride, purpose, and passion. Mehta’s leadership philosophy centers on custodianship of the GT brand, placing fans at the heart of every decision. The emphasis on building a high-performance culture aims to empower management, coaching staff, and players, directly linking on-field success to commercial growth.
A key pillar of GT’s long-term strategy is fostering future generations of fans and talent. The “Junior Titans” youth development program, in collaboration with Spain’s LaLiga, has already engaged over 5,000 participants.
