Deepika Padukone has given her father a precious gift for his birthday on Tuesday, 10 June. Prakash Padukone, one of the most legendary badminton players of the country, just turned 70 today and his daughter has made a mega announcement regarding the Padukone School of Badminton (PSB). The Bollywood actress has announced that the badminton school will be expanding to 75 new centres.
The Padukone School of Badminton was launched last year by Deepika. The school aims to develop a healthier and focused generation that is inspired by a sport. The actor shared the news of expansion through her official instagram account. She spoke about how the sport can change a person’s life physically, mentally, and emotionally.
In her post she wrote, “As someone who grew up playing badminton, I’ve experienced firsthand how much this sport can shape one’s life – physically, mentally, and emotionally. Through Padukone School of Badminton (PSB), we hope to bring the joy and discipline of Badminton to people from all walks of life, and build a generation that is healthier, more focused, and inspired by sport.”
She added, “Pappa, those who know you well, know your passion for this sport.That even at 70, all you do is eat, sleep and breathe Badminton. And we are committed to making your passion a reality: Badminton for All! Happy 70th Birthday Pappa!”
Although the organisation was founded by Deepika Padukone, her father still serves as the mentor and advisor on the board. As per the post by Padukone, the school will be expanding to 75 centres now and will be looking to keep expanding as they aim at 100 centres till the end of the month. They have stated that they aim to open around 250 centres in three years time.
Deepika’s name is currently buzzing in a heap of controversy with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga following her exit from his upcoming project Spirit. It was reported that the fallout between both was related to work hours dispute and arguments on remuneration.
