The Asia Group (TAG) is excited to announce Nisha D. Biswal as a Partner at the firm. Biswal brings decades of expertise and leadership at the highest levels of U.S. government, development finance, and business diplomacy to TAG’s rapidly expanding South Asia and Energy & Sustainability practices.

India remains indispensable to companies’ global growth strategies – and navigating its opportunities requires trusted, proven leadership. Biswal’s appointment underscores TAG’s position as the premier advisory firm for business, reinforcing the firm’s long-standing commitment to India and the strategic importance of the broader South Asia region.

Biswal is widely recognized as one of the most influential voices on U.S. policy towards South Asia with over 30 years of experience across the executive branch, Congress, and the private sector. Before joining TAG, Biswal served as Deputy CEO of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) where she helped scale the Agency to become the largest bilateral development finance institution in the United States and advanced strategic investments across energy, infrastructure, and critical minerals.

Biswal has extensive experience developing and shaping U.S. economic and strategic engagement with India and broader South Asia. Prior to DFC, she served as a Senior Vice President at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce from 2017 to 2023, leading the U.S.-India and U.S.-Bangladesh Business Councils, and as Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State from 2013 to 2017. During her tenure at State, Biswal oversaw the U.S.-India strategic partnership during a period of unprecedented growth, including the launch of an annual U.S.-India Strategic and Commercial Dialogue. Previously, Biswal held senior roles at USAID and on the Appropriations and Foreign Affairs Committees in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Nisha brings profound insight into the economic and geopolitical forces shaping South Asia and the Indo-Pacific,” said Nirav Patel, CEO and Co-Founder of TAG. “Her deep networks and strategic acumen will empower our clients to navigate complexities in India, while capitalizing on growth prospects in one of the world’s most dynamic regions.”

As Partner, Biswal will spearhead TAG’s efforts to guide global businesses in unlocking opportunities across market entry, strategic partnerships, and political risk management in South Asia. Drawing on TAG’s world-class India platform – anchored by deep sectoral expertise and a proven track record in delivering client success – Biswal will play a leading role in driving outcomes for clients in the region across the energy, critical minerals, and sustainability sectors.

“In a world where geopolitics and the green agenda, and growth and development more generally, are jostling for space, Nisha’s arrival as Partner signals TAG’s commitment to the India story,” said Ashok Malik, Partner and Chair of TAG’s India Practice.
