India experienced a remarkable evening at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships, celebrating a series of medal-winning performances that highlighted the nation’s growing prowess in track and field. The standout moment came from the women’s 4x400m relay team, which ended a 12-year wait for gold by finishing first with a time of 3:34.18. The team—composed of Jisna Mathew, Rupal, Rajitha Kunja, and Subha Venkatesan—executed seamless baton changes and displayed exceptional teamwork and resilience to outpace their competitors and secure a historic victory. This triumph signifies a significant step forward for Indian women’s relay teams in Asian athletics.

The men’s 4x400m relay team also delivered an impressive performance. The squad of Jay Kumar, Dharamveer Chaudhary, Manu T.S., and Vishal T.K. clocked 3:03.67, earning a silver medal in a fiercely competitive final. Although they narrowly missed out on gold, their achievement further established India as a force to be reckoned with in relay events.

Another highlight of the evening was Avinash Sable’s ground-breaking win in the men’s 3000m steeplechase. Sable became the first Indian man in 36 years to claim gold in this event at the Asian Championships, posting a season-best time of 8:20.92. He surged ahead of Japan’s Yutaro Niinae in the final lap, while Qatar’s Zakaria Elahlaami finished third with a personal best.

India’s medal tally was further boosted in the women’s long jump, where Ancy Sojan Edappilly secured silver with a leap of 6.33m, and Shaili Singh earned bronze with a 6.30m jump. Iran’s Reihaneh Mobini Arani took gold with a 6.40m effort.

With five gold medals already secured, India’s athletes are making a powerful statement at the championships, showcasing their rising dominance in Asia and building momentum for upcoming international competitions.

Additionally, Team India successfully defended their 4x400m mixed relay title, as Rupal Chaudhary, Santosh Kumar, Vishal TK, and Subha Venkatesan finished first with a time of 3:18.12, further adding to the nation’s impressive medal haul.
